This course builds on ENG 316 in providing in-depth theory and practice in teaching English as a new language to K-12 students through the content areas, including mathematics, science, social studies, and English language arts/literature.  The course will focus on the SIOP approach to teaching content area curricula.   Practical strategies, techniques, and materials for teaching ESL through mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts will be investigated. The assessment of content knowledge and language proficiency in English language learners will be addressed as well.  Prerequisite: ENG 316 or permission of instructor.
